Differences Between Canadian and Slovak Standards

After years of work in both countries, I can say that each has its specifics. In Canada, great emphasis is placed on waterproofing and strict adherence to building codes.
Canadian standards are stricter in several areas:
Waterproofing
In Canada, membrane waterproofing is mandatory in all wet areas. In Slovakia, we often rely only on quality adhesives and grouts.
Ventilation systems
Every bathroom must have mechanical ventilation with precisely defined air exchange rates. In Slovakia, natural ventilation is often sufficient.
Materials
Canadian suppliers provide detailed technical sheets for each material. Everything must be certified for specific climatic conditions.
Inspections
Building authorities in Canada conduct regular inspections during construction. In Slovakia, inspections are less frequent.
However, Slovak standards have their advantages - greater flexibility and the possibility of creative solutions. I combine the best of both worlds.
